Oliseh, Reps Meeting Postponed

The meeting between former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh and the House of Representatives’ Committee on Sports scheduled for Thursday has been postponed indefinitely.

A top source at the National Assembly disclosed this information to Goal on Monday, adding that the announcement for the new date will be made only if the meeting would hold.

Oliseh was expected to answer questions as regards his sudden resignation from his position, just a month to the crucial AFCON qualifier against Egypt.

“The meeting between the House Committee on Sports and former Super Eagles Chief Coach Sunday Oliseh has been postponed indefinitely,” the source said.

“No reason or reasons have been given to that effect. Even as I speak with you I am doing so as a friend and not saddled with the responsibility of making any public statement to that effect. But the truth is that the meeting will not hold on Thursday”

Recall, that top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), kicked against the meeting, claiming it will be a big distraction to the vital upcoming fixtures of the team.

“What I can also tell you as a friend is that the House Committee considered the fact that the outcome of the meeting may distract or have adverse effect on the Eagles versus Egypt’s Nations Cup qualifying matches.

“So in as much as the House Committee on Sports wants things to be done properly in the Nigeria Football house its action and intentions must not have negative effects on our national team,” the source added.
