’10bn Monthly Bribe’: Senate Orders Probe Of Police IG
The Senate has launched investigation into the “N10 billion monthly” bribery allegation levelled against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.
Recall that Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Isah Hamma Misau, had earlier accused IGP Idris of making around N10 billion monthly as bribe from the deployment of police officers to oil companies, banks and private individuals who seek “special protection”.
“These people pay as much as N10bn monthly. They are however unaccounted for”, Senator Misau had claimed.
But the matter which seemed to have died down, resurfaced on Wednesday after Misau informed the Senate of alleged attack on his person by the police, following his accusations against the IGP.
After listening to the lawmaker’s order 15, Senate President, Bukola Saraki ordered the setting up of an ad-hoc committee that will properly investigate the issues raised.
Senator Isah Misau cites order 15 and talks of the attack on him by the IG of @NigerianPolice on the allegations he raised against him.
