13 Injured In Anambra Auto-Crash

Thirteen persons were weekend injured in an auto-crash along Odumodu junction, Nteje, along Onitsha-Awka expressway.

The accident, which occurred at about 1500hrs, involved a Hijet shuttle bus with registration number ATN57XB and a Toyota hiace with registration number NKK483ZN.

According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred as a result of excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking.

FRSC’s sector education officer in state, RC Kamal Musal, said, “The 13 persons involved sustained varying degrees of injuries, and were rushed to Chira Hospital, Awkuzu, by the FRSC rescue team from Nteje unit command. The vehicles were towed to Nteje Police Station by the police.”

Meanwhile, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, has warned motorists to desist from wrongful overtaking and over-speeding, and adhere strictly to the speed limits.

He also urged them to observe driving precautions as a result of ongoing construction work in some parts of the state, which converted some single lanes to one.
