15 Injured In Anambra Road Crashes

Fifteen persons were Monday evening injured in two separate road accidents that occurred in Anambra State. One of the accidents involved three vehicles and happened around Coca-Cola axis, Upper Iweka, Onitsha.

It involved a Toyota Harrier jeep with registration number AAA 935 FN, Atrai wagon bus with registration number BLF 02 XB and another Atrai wagon bus with registration number HKW 07 XZ.

An eyewitness report said the accident was a result of obstruction and over-speeding. According to the public education officer, FRSC, Anambra State, SC Florence Edor, seventeen persons, comprising nine male adults, seven female adults and a child, were involved in the crash.

She said, “Eleven of them sustained varying degrees of injury, and were taken to hospital for treatment.”

In another development, a Mitsubishi L300 bus belonging to His Grace Mass Transit with registration KPP 191 YT had a lone traffic crash before Starch Mill, Uli, in Ihiala on Monday. The accident was caused by tyre burst, leading to loss of control.

SRC Florence Edor, sector public education officer, FRSC, Anambra State command, said fourteen persons were involved in the crash, adding that, “Two male adults sustained varying degrees of injury and were rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala.”

Meanwhile, the sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State, CC Andrew A Kumapayi, has warned motorists to desist from using Tokunbo tyres or expired tyres to avoid tyre burst.
