1,514 Migrants Died In Mediterranean In 7 Months
A total of 57,571 migrants and refugees arrived by sea in the Mediterranean to Europe in 2018, the United Nations Migration Agency said on Tuesday.
In its MSF Sea and Sea-watch report released today, a total of 1,514 migrants, including refugees and asylum-seekers, have died or gone missing in the process of migration towards an international destination.
According to the report, 2,232 migrant fatalities have been recorded worldwide in 2018 alone, with the highest number from Africa.
From the data, 2016 had more fatalities with 5,143 followed by 2015 (3,783), 2014 (3,283) and 2017 (3,139).
