The Super Eagles of Nigeria sits top of Group B in the African qualifiers of the 2018 FIFA World Cup after Algeria and Cameroun played out a 1-1 draw in Blida.
The Indomitable Lions came from behind to secure a vital point against Algeria in the second Group B fixture on Sunday night.
The North Africans took the lead in the 7th-minute El Arabi Soudani who slotted home from close range past goalkeeper Joseph Ondoa.
However, Camerounians bounced back in the 24th-minute, thanks to a captain Benjamin Mounkandjo, who commanded his effort under the legs of Algeria goalie Rais M’Bolhi, after a through pass from Edgar Salli.
The West Africans had to endure increased pressure from the host, but a superb display from Ondoa ensured Islam Slimani and Adlanre Guediora’s goal-bound efforts were kept out.
Next up for Algeria is a trip to Nigeria next month, while the Super Eagles who defeated Zambia 2-1 earlier on Sunday, will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of their group.
