As the 2019 elections inch closer, more contestants are throwing their hats into the ring and the latest entrant is Ms. Adaora Onyechere of AIT’s flagship programme, Kaakaki.

The WHISTLER learnt on Thursday in Abuja that the broadcaster who hails from Ihube Amagu Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, is eyeing the State House of Assembly seat under the platform of Action Alliance (AA).

According to a source close to the mother of one, the decision to pitch tent with the AA is because it offers a new platform unlike the old parties that have issues of credibility.

“You know that Nigerians are clamouring not only for young people to seek political office, but credible, untainted platforms that will not be subjected to influences of moneybags and discredited politicians,” the source who asked not to be named said.

The source also hinted that Ms. Onyechere has gone far with consultations and her interest in the race has continued to generate excitement.

Ms. Onyechere began her broadcast career in Nigeria on her return from studies in the U.K with CCTV Network in Kogi State, then moved onto the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), before joining AIT where she has become a broadcaster of choice with strong interest in the girl-child.
