2019 Budget Presentation: Lawmakers Boo Buhari Over Claims On Recession, Herdsmen Crisis

Lawmakers in the national assembly, on Wednesday, booed President Muhammadu Buhari during the presentation of the 2019 appropriation bill.

Buhari, while addressing a joint session of upper and lower legislative chambers, said that Nigeria has fully recovered from recession.

“The economy has recovered from recession,” the president said.

He was however interrupted by the lawmakers who shouted a re-echoing “no,” “lies,” and “boo”.

Continuing, president Buhari restated that “the economy has recovered from recession.” He was again interrupted by the angry lawmakers.

Ignoring the interruption, Buhari said his government has done more work with less resources in agriculture, infrastructure and social investment.

He further said he has done much to support states with the payment of salaries amongst others.

According to him, he has made successful efforts to stop insurgency and resolve inter communal clashes.
