2019: Buhari ‘Too Old’ To Run, I’ll Perform Better – APC Chieftain

President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged by a presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to shelve his 2019 re-election bid because he is allegedly too old and lacks the energy to govern the country.

Chief Christmas Akpodiete, a stalwart of the APC in Delta State, made the call to President Buhari following his declaration to run for president under the platform of the ruling party.

According to Akpodiete, the National Assembly’s recent passing of the ‘Not Too Young To Run Bill’ and the president’s assent to the same is commendable and should begin to usher in energetic youths that the country requires at the helm of its affairs.

The 39-year-old politician told reporters that, “The nation is in a dire need of a younger President, and the time (for President Buhari) to retire the political oligarchs is now”.

Meanwhile, President Buhari had light-heartedly asked youths in the country who may want to contest against him in the 2019 presidential election to shelve their ambitions until after his second term in office.
