Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Thursday, submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to the national leadership of opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dogara, who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was said to have arrived PDP’s national secretariat with hundreds of his supporters who equally dumped the ruling party for the opposition party.
The Speaker is seeking re-election as the federal lawmaker representing Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency in the lower legislative chamber of the National Assembly in the 2019 general elections.
Dogara’s defection to the PDP may not have come as a surprise to many as the Speaker had long been predicted to be planning to follow the suit of Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, who had also dumped the APC for the opposition party.
