2019 Election: Coalition Center Opens 6pm On Sunday

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday said that the collation centre at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, would open on Sunday.

This was made know by the commission’s chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, during the last day of the daily briefing at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

“The collation centre will open on the 24th February, here at the International Conference Centre at 6pm.” he said

Ahead of the polls tomorrow yakubu also said the national situation room located International Conference Centre will open 6pm today to monitor deployment of personal and materials across the county.

“The sorting and counting of ballots will take place at each pooling unit while the last stage of the coalition process will take place at the registration areas or wards.

“Other coalition and declaration will take place at designated local government areas result coalition and declaration centres for various constituency and senatorial district.

“The final coalition of presidential election will be done here in this hall, similarly the national situation room located in this building will open sat 6pm today to monitor deployment of personal and materials across the county throughout the polling period, to receive an respond to enquiries associated with the election from citizens, as well as electoral officials and other stakeholders.

“Those interested in visiting the situation room will be admitted in the following schedule, media 11: am, domestic observers 2-3 pm, international observer 5-6pm.”

Yakubu, further stated that Nigerians whose permanent voters card, PVC, are not genuine will not be allowed to vote.

“Voting will be by continues accreditation and voting system. A voter will only be allowed to vote if his or her name is on the list of registered voters and after the verification of the PVC and authentication of his or her biometrics by the smart card reader, no genuine PVC no voting.

“Telephones and other photographic devices may be brought to the polling unit but are not allowed in the voting cubical.”

INEC added that other measures are in place to deal with the menace of vote buying and other sundry electoral issues.

“The commission with the support of the security agencies is determined to extirpate this course from our electoral process by prosecuting anyone arrested.”
