2020 UTME: JAMB Remits N7 Billion Revenue To FG

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has remitted about 7 Billion naira to the Federal Government as part of unused funds generated from sales of ePins, among others, during the 2020 March Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin.

“From the outset, it has been the intention of the present leadership of the board to return whatever is left unutilised from its operational imperatives. The immediate benefit of the move manifested in the reduction by President Muhammadu Buhari of the UTME registration fee payable by candidates from N5,000 to N3,500.

“It had earlier made the payment of over N3.5b to candidates by way of reduction of N1,500 from the cost of each ePIN sold to each candidate as graciously directed by Mr President, totaling over N3.5b, bringing the total remittances this year to over N7b.

JAMB also assured that it would remit more as soon as it’s operations were concluded and proper audit of its books done.
