48 Religious Leaders Among 986 Violators Of Lockdown Facing Charges In Kaduna

986 people have been arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command for violating the Quarantine Order of the state government.

The order was put in place to curtail spread of the Coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19.

48 religious leaders and beer parlour operators are facing charges for disobedience at the various mobile courts across the state.

Police commissioner in the state, Umar Muri, while parading the arrested persons in his office, noted that the enforcement of the lockdown and social distancing directive has become imperative in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.

According to Muri, anyone who violates the order in the state would face the full wrath of the law.

The police boss, while reiterating the commitment of the command to rid the state of criminal elements, he explained that over 300 bandits have been killed in the past two months.

He also said the success was recorded in collaboration with the Nigerian Airforce from February till Date.

He further noted that 91 suspects were arrested for other criminal offences and several arms and ammunition recovered during different operations at 10 identified camps of the bandits within Birnin Gwari and Giwa Local Government Areas of the state.

Two policemen, according to the police commissioner, lost their lives while 13 others sustained varying degrees of injuries during the operations.
