56 Suspected Boko Haram Members Arrested In Kogi

Not less than 56 persons suspected to be members of terror group Boko Haram have been arrested by the police in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, made this known to newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday.

The commissioner said that the suspects were arrested at a popular junction at Angwa Tiv in Obajana village, a suburb of Lokoja.
He said that the suspects were picked up from their various hideouts on September 19.

According to Ojukwu, the police action was triggered by a gun attack on a police patrol vehicle in Obajana area by some of the suspects on September 4. He said the attack killed a police inspector.

He said that for years, the junction had served as a haven for criminals that had been killing and maiming innocent people. He further disclosed that weapons and drugs were found in their possession.

The commissioner who said that the suspects would be charged to court very soon, showed the corpse of a robbery suspect who was felled by police bullet at Odu village in Dekina Local Government Area of the state during a shoot-out.

The corpse was displayed to newsmen alongside other robbery suspects recently arrested at different locations in state.
The commissioner said his men are trailing other suspects that participated in the Odu village robbery operation.
