774,000 Jobs: We Won’t Accept Consideration For Only Indigenes – FG Tells States

Minister for State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, says the 774,000 jobs the federal government wants to create for unemployed Nigerians across the country are not meant for only indigenes of states.

Keyamo stated this on Saturday on his verified twitter handle.

He said he was aware that some states’ selection committees were considering only indigenes for the jobs.

According to him, such consideration is unacceptable, adding that the jobs are for anyone resident in any local government area  across the country

He said “We understand some States’ Selection Committees are considering only indigenes for the 774,000 jobs. That’s unacceptable.

“Anyone who is resident in any LGA in the country, irrespective of tribe, is qualified. It’s one country in which we all live. The NDE coordinators should note.”

Recall that the federal government, had on July 14th, announced the commencement of the Special Public Works Programme aimed at employing 774,000 citizens, a thousand from each of the 774 local government areas in the country.

“The Special Public Works Programme of the Federal Government has kicked off nationwide. The State Selection Committees have been inaugurated and have commenced work,” it said.
