At least 850 members of different cult groups in Ogun state have renounced cultism after drinking a liquid substance at the palace of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo.

As reported by the Punch, the youths were directed to consume the “water” provided by the monarch as a form of cleansing from cult related activities.

The move follows numerous cult clashes in the state that have reportedly led to the loss of lives and properties.

A source who confirmed the development, said elders in the community adopted the measure, which they described as an oath renouncement.

It was gathered that an announcement was made earlier that all those who were members of cult groups should go and renounce their membership at the Deji’s palace in Akure.

According to the announcement, a person who goes back to cultism after renouncing the act, will die mysteriously.
