94-Year Old Prime Minister Says Young Leaders Should Listen To Old People

The world’s oldest serving premier, Malaysia’s Mahathir Mohamad has said that the young generation should always look forward to the counsel of the older generation.

He disclosed this on Tuesday when the news broke that Finland had picked a 34-year old woman for the office of the prime minister.

Marin’s appointment brings her into the class of other world’s young leaders like New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (39), Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk (35) and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un (35).

According to Mohamad, it would not be a bad idea for Finland’s Sanna Marin, to ask “old people” for their advice.

According to Reuters, the old leader believes that when young people and aged ones join forces, their impact will be felt.

“While we believe in the idealism of young people, it is important also for them to consider the experience of the old people.

“Then there will be a combination of the two, and that would be good,” he said.

Mahathir has been in Malaysia’s political scene for over 70 years, serving as prime minister from 1981 to 2003, and returned to the office again in 2018.

There are also old people like him currently serving as national leaders; the likes of Queen Elizabeth II (93) of United Kingdom, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (90) of Kuwait, Sir Colville Young(87) of Belize, Paul Biya (86) of Cameroon, Michel Aoun(84) of Lebanon, Mahmoud Abbas (84) of Palestine, Prince Khalifa bin Salman(84) of Bahrain, Salman bin Abdulaziz (83) of Saudi Arabia, Pope Francis (82) of Vatican, Muhammadu Buhari (76) of Nigeria and Donald Trump (73) of the United States of America.
