Recall that The Whistler reported yesterday that the Department of States Security (DSS), would arraign the senator on Tuesday.

Abaribe was arrested by operatives of the DSS in Abuja last Friday.

He was arrested at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, when he visited the hotel to have his hair cut.

“Yes, it is true that he has been arrested. He was arrested at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel by noon on Friday when he went there to have his hair cut,” the senator’s spokesman, Mr. Uche Awom, said on Friday.

His residence was immediately cordoned off by DSS operatives.

Multiple reports have it that Abaribe was arrested following his alleged inability to produce Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who he stood surety for, and for his constant criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.

Abaribe and two others had stood as surety, as part of the bail conditions for Kanu, whose whereabouts has remained unknown.

Abaribe’s trial comes barely 24 hours after Justice Binta Nyako of the the Abuja court granted four pro-Biafra agitators bail.

The Biafra agitators are Bright Chimezie, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.

The quartet, alongside the leader of the proscribed IPOB leader, Kanu were charged with treasonable felony.
