Abia Govt Eyes Improved IGR, Signs MOU To Boost Hospitality Industry

The Abia State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) withAmena Tourism and Hospitality Innovative Technology to digitize and standardize the hospitality industry in the state.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Governor of Abia State, represented by Hon. Matthew Ekwuribe commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy said that the state government wants to ensure that travelers feel safe in Abia state .

“This project is a landmark initiative to ensure that travelers feel safe and have confidence in the quality of services in Abia State,” he said.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna also expressed his delight with the partnership.

“We have crossed all the T’s and dotted all the I’s. I know that as we proceed to the implementation phase, it will be swift and ensure that Abia State has a better hospitality environment with a good database to improve security and transparency,” he said.

The managing director, Amena Tourism and Hospitality Innovation Technology, Mr. Edosa Eghobamien, lauded the Governor for the wonderful projects he is carrying out in the state, stating that they are worthy of emulation.

“What I see in Abia should be emulated in Nigeria and I thank the Governor for giving us this wonderful opportunity to enhance traveller confidence by providing consistent hospitality standards that assure both domestic and international visitors of quality and reliability,” he said.

The project aims to enhance traveler confidence, improve service quality, foster economic growth, and boost security and compliance in the hospitality industry.

The initiative is expected to last for four to five months and will involve digitizing and grading hotels and other hospitality services in the state.

Improve Service Quality by raising the bar for accommodation services and encouraging healthy competition within the sector.

Foster Economic Growth by strengthening the local tourism industry, creating direct and indirect jobs, and stimulating enterprise in related sectors such as transport, food, crafts, and cultural exhibitions.

Boost Security and Compliance by enabling the government to maintain a verified register of graded hotels, thereby reducing risks for travelers and ensuring proper regulation of operators.

THE WHISTLER also reports that the government hopes that the project will create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and improve the overall quality of services in the hospitality industry.
