Abia Varsity To Be Powered By Solar Energy – Reps Committee

There are indications that Abia State University (ABSU) Uturu, will be fully powered by solar energy soon, following assurance by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Chinedu Ogah, to the University management.

Hon Ogah, who represents the Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, Ebonyi State, gave the assurance when he led a team of the House of Representatives ad hoc Committee on Public Accounts to the University.

He said the committee was impressed by the warm reception, humility, and friendliness of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Maxwell Ogbuluand, promising to personally follow up the project to ensure its realization as soon as possible.

He explained that the team came to the university on oversight,specifically on the spending from the Federation Accounts with particular reference to TETFUND allocations to the University.

Hon Ogah commended the Vice Chancellor for exhibiting excellent leadership qualities and humility, promising to attract other projects to the university.

In response, Prof. Ogbulu thanked the team for the visit, explaining that ABSU was built on the foundation of excellence, integrity, discipline and hard work by the founding fathers and former Vice Chancellors of the university.

He said his team will continue to toe the same path, especially in the transparent management of all TETFUND support to the university.

While commending the unprecedented support of TETFund to the university, he informed the team of the standard and guidelines for disbursement by TETFund in phases, based on satisfactory proof of every tranche of support, before the next phase.

He promised the cooperation of the university as the lawmakers carry out their oversight duties.

The other members of the team are Hon Sam Onuigbo, Hon( Engr) Atigwe Simon and Barrister Chinyere Igwe.
