The Lagos State Government has presented cheques to 23 families of the deceased victims of the Abule-Ado explosion.
The incident had happened in the early hours of Sunday March 16, claiming 23 lives and properties worth billions of naira.
Following his visit to the scene of the explosion, Lagos governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu,, set up a N2 billion relief fund for the victims.
The Governors’ Forum and other corporate organisations have been contributing to the relief fund since the incident.
While presenting the cheques, the deputy governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat,said the state was working to prevent such explosions going forward.
He stated : “Today we presented cheques to the families of the 23 deceased victims of the Abule-Ado explosion.We hope the money will help provide some relief even as they miss their loved ones. We are also working with safety, power and other stakeholders to find a lasting solution to issues.”
