The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a phone scam syndicate accused of selling dummy phones to unsuspecting customers through a network of agents across the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. He identified the suspects as Audu Abubakar and Nasiru Hassan, both residents of Bauchi Street in Yola North Local Government Area.
Nguroje said the suspects were arrested following complaints from victims who bought what they believed were genuine mobile phones, only to discover the devices were non-functional replicas.

He added that several dummy phones and other exhibits were recovered during the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, has directed that the suspects be subjected to a thorough investigation and prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation.
