Adebayor Joins Turkish Side Istanbul Basaksehir

Togo captain, Emmanuel Adebayor has joined Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir on a free transfer.

The former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham, who has being a free agent since leaving Crystal palace last season, signed an 18-month deal with Turkish Super Lig side on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old underwent a medical at the Medipol Mega University hospital in Istanbul.

“He was one of the players on our transfer short list,” Basaksehir executive director Mustafa Erogut said.

“Adebayor wants a new challenge and intrigued by what he saw at our club.

“Adebayor did not need much convincing. After seeing the club and meeting with the president he was impressed with our vision and the chance to make history.”

Adebayor captained Togo as the 2017 African Cup of Nations, he was monitored by Basaksehir’s chief scout Alioum Saidou, who gave the club the go ahead to capture the striker.
