Adidas CEO Calls For Age And Term Limits Of FIFA Presidents

The CEO of German sportswear company, Adidas, Herbert Hainer, said on Thursday that the world football governing body FIFA should designate limits on the term and age of its future presidents.

Hainer also said the role of FIFA president should be more like that of a chief executive, overseen by a supervisory body, like in companies.

In an interview with the WirtschaftsWoche magazine, Hainer said: “It doesn’t help at all for just one person to go.

”You have to fundamentally change the organization.

“I can’t say what will come out in the end, but you will see that the structures will change significantly.”

FIFA is facing its worst corruption scandal in history, with its president currently facing a 90-day suspension, and many of its official’s facing indictment.

Adidas is a long-standing sponsor of FIFA, and has provided the World Cup match ball since 1970, last year, the company extended its partnership with FIFA until 2030.
