AEDC Begins Cleanup Of Poorly Wired Communities In FCT

Beginning with Gishiri Village in the Federal Capital Territory, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced the cleanup of poorly wired communities within its franchise area.

This, according to the AEDC, will enable it render accident-free electricity services in the FCT, Nasarawa and Niger states.

In a statement by its Head of Public Relations and Media, Ahmed Shekarau, the distribution company said the cleanup exercise will commence on Monday, October 9, 2017 in Gishiri and subsequently in Tudun Wada, Lugbe and Life Camp respectively.

“Tomorrow’s (Monday) work in Gishiri would commence with the strategic removal of substandard electrical poles which would be replaced with standard concrete ones,” said the company.

“The Gishiri network sanitization will lead to intermittent disruption of power supply especially in particular parts of the community where the cleanup operation is being carried out at a given period of time.

“Against this backdrop, therefore, we are appealing for the patience and understanding of our affected customers, just as we solicit their cooperation with members of the teams appointed to carry out this operation,” said the AEDC.
