Afcon: Nigerians React As Rohr Drops Iheanacho, Ajayi From Super Eagles Squad

Nigerians are taking to Twitter to react after Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, dropped Kelechi Iheanacho from Nigeria’s squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) football tournament.

In the final 23-man list Rohr released on Sunday, Semi Ajayi was also dropped from the Super Eagles final team for the 2019 Afcon.

Rohr’s squad comprise the following:

Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi.

Defenders: Olaoluwa Aina, Abdullahi Shehu, Chidozie Awaziem, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Kenneth Omeruo, Jamilu Collins.

Midfielders: Mikel John Obi, Wilfred Ndidi, Okenekaro Etebo, John Ogu.

Forward: Ahmed Musa, Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Henry Onyekuru, Odion Ighalo, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Kalu, Paul Onuachu, Samuel Chukwueze.

The squad is expected to travel to Ismailia in Egypt later today. They will be preparing for the Afcon in the city before playing Senegal in another friendly contest at the Ismailia Stadium on June 16.

Meanwhile, some Nigerians have taken to Twitter to rebuke the Nigeria Football Federation and the Super Eagles’ coach for dropping Iheanacho, describing the latter as “a tool in the hands of NFF”.

Others, however, hold the opinion that the Nigerian forward deserved to be dropped from the list for various reasons.
