After 9 Months Of Appointment, Buhari Approves Posting Of 95 Ambassadors

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the posting of 95 Ambassadors-Designate, who will carry out diplomatic assignments in Nigerian Missions abroad.

In a statement signed by Amb. Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, the affected persons were informed to get prepared for their induction.

The ministry also noted that it had begun interacting with the host countries on the matter.

“The list includes 43 Career Ambassadors and 52 Non-Career Ambassadors.

“With this development, the process of requesting Agrément from the prospective host countries has commenced.

“The Ministry also wishes to inform that there will be an induction course for the Ambassador-Designates and their spouses which will hold on a date to be announced shortly, to prepare and facilitate movement of the Envoys to their respective Missions,” the statement read on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, THE WHISTLER recalls that President Buhari had in a letter dated May 6, 2020, requested the Senate’s confirmation of 42 career Ambassadors-Designate.

The President had also written to the Senate on July 1, 2020, requesting the confirmation of one career Ambassadors-Designate and 39 non-career Ambassadors-designate.
