Again, El-Zakzaky, Wife Denied Bail
The leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El Zakzaky and his wife have again been denied bail by a Kaduna State High Court.
Following their arrest in Zaria in December 2015, the IMN leader and his wife who are facing trial over allegations of unlawful assembly and disruption of public peace, among other charges, were first arraigned on May 15, 2018, but were denied bail.
According to reports, the presiding judge, Justice Gideon Kurada on Wednesday said the accused persons have not shown any valid medical proof to grant them bail in their written application.
Kurada, however, adjourned the case to January 22, 2019, and ordered that the accused persons should remain in the custody of the Department of State Services throughout the period of their trial.
