Again, Nnamdi Kanu Rejects Secret Trial As Judge ‘Absconds’

Kanu, whose trial has been back and forth, allegedly said that the Federal Government cannot try him secretly after it had openly accused him of treasonable acts.

The move created tension in the Federal High Court Abuja on Tuesday, which reportedly caused the judge, Binta Nyako to angrily storm out of the courtroom.

The Justice Binta Nyako-led court had in December 2016 fixed today, Tuesday, January 10, 2017, for the commencement of Kanu’s secret trial.

Meanwhile, Journalist who came to cover the trial were stunned as the court barred them from entering the premises, with witnesses reportedly shielded behind a screen guard.

The trial is presently being held behind a screen guard, as journalists can only hear the witnesses, lawyers and the trial judge but cannot see them.

Mr Kanu and three others, David Nwawuisi, Benjamin Madubugwu and Chidiebere Onwudiwe are standing trial on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and belonging to an unlawful society.

They have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
