AGF Malami Visits Kebbi Over Boat Mishap, Donates N2m To Affected Families

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, on Saturday visited Warra, Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State to sympathize with over one hundred victims affected by a boat mishap.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, Malami’s Non-Governmental Organization, Khadimiyya Initiative for Justice and Development, provided bags of rice to each of the affected families while sharing N2 million to them.

“On behalf of the Federal Government and indeed the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari, let me express deep and sincere sympathy of the Government of the Federation of Nigeria to the people of Warra, Ngaski Local Government and Kebbi State Government over this unfortunate incidence,” Malami said.

The AGF said that the Nigeria Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) needed to collaborate and come up with modalities to address the incidence and ensure it did not repeat itself.

“He said it was out of the desire to address related issues the Federal Government established Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Communication (HYPPADEC),” the statement read.
