The English Football Association (FA) has charged Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero for violent conduct in his side’s 3-1 win over West Ham last Sunday.

The FA is charging the Argentine for elbowing West Ham defender Winston Reid.

Referee Andre Marriner confirmed in his match report that he had not seen the Argentinian fling his elbow back into the throat of Reid during last Sunday’s match and it has been unanimously decided by an FA panel that it was a deliberate attempt to hurt his opponent.

Each watched it independently before ruling that they felt it was a sending off offence, allowing the FA to charge Aguero.

Aguero has until 18:00 BST on Thursday, September 1, to respond to the charge, and if he accepts the charge then he would automatically receive a three-game ban

Which means, he will most likely miss the derby clash with Manchester United on Sept. 10. He will also be suspended for the Premier League fixtures against Bournemouth and the EFL Cup third-round clash with Swansea City.
