Aisha Buhari Makes Case For Female President

Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has called for more women’s participation in politics to create avenue for a female to emerge as president in the country.

Mrs. Buhari said unless more women from all works of life engage in politics, the country may never produce a female president.

The First Lady spoke at the Happy Conference 2020 themed “A Woman; My Purpose”. She was represented by Mrs. Hajo Sani.

The event was organised by Aspire Women Forum, an NGO, on Saturday in Abuja.

Mrs. Buhari also urged women to continue to aim for greatness “in spite of global economic difficulties”.

The First Lady said: “Women are the only ones who can make themselves happy irrespective of our challenges; we must encourage each other to be happy, be each other’s mentors and remain role models to young girls.

“We look forward to having more women in all the professional fields, especially politics. That is the only route through which a woman president can finally emerge in this country.”

Mrs. Buhari also urged young girls to, “speak out when being molested either at home or in schools,” adding that they must work hard and concentrate on their studies to excel in life.
