Akpabio’s ‘Imposition Of Candidate’ Leads Angry Youths To Raze Police Division

Some alleged youth supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom state have razed a Divisional Police Station in Okobo LGA over alleged imposition of a senatorial candidate by former Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio, who is alleged to be supporting one Victor Antai for Eket senatorial ticket in the APC, drew the wrath of the angry supporters after the supposed winner of the party’s primary election for that senatorial district, Robinson Ebumoh, had his name yanked off and replaced with Mr Antai’s.

The angry supporters are said to believe that the police in the state aided party officials to hijack materials of the primary election in a bid to allegedly swindle Mr Ebumoh out of his mandate.

Although, THE WHISTLER could not immediately corroborate this narrative, reports have it that Mr Antai had joined Senator Akpabio in the APC after failing to clinch the senatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Eket senatorial district.

It was learnt that prior to burning down the police station, the angry party supporters were seen carrying placards with the inscription “Akpabio leave Oro nation alone.”
