Alex Iwobi Pens Long-Term Deal At Arsenal

Nigeria forward Alex Iwobi has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal, the London club announced on Friday.

The new deal will see the 22-year-old stay at the Emirate stadium till 2023.

“It’s always been my childhood dream to represent Arsenal, from young,” Iwobi told Arsenal media.

“To get an extended contract is an amazing feeling and I hope I’m doing the Arsenal family proud as well as my family.

“It feels so special. The first kit I had was Arsenal and long may I continue to represent them,” he added.

Iwobi joined the Gunners when he was just 9-year-old and has made 98 appearances for Arsenal since breaking through into the first team, late in the 2015-16 season.

“I’m very pleased Alex has signed a new contract with us. He is a great example of a player who can succeed from the Academy through hard work and I look forward to working with him and our other talented young players in the squad,” said Arsenal’s Head coach Unai Emery.

On the international stage, Iwobi is a key player in Coach Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles team, with six goals in 20 games for the Eagles.
