ALGON National President, Jiba Allegedly Forced To Resign

An acting president in person of Ibrahim Ahmed Karaye, has now emerged.

Jiba, who was the chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), in his resignation message, advised Karaye to continue with the pursuit of the actualisation of autonomy for the local government administration in Nigeria.

His resignation message read: “After due consultation with my family members and other higher authorities I deemed it fit to voluntarily resign in the spirit of democracy”.

It was learnt that Jiba was forced to resign by some forces who were not comfortable with the fact that a People Democratic Party (PDP) member, was president of the association.

Kereya, who was unanimously nominated and declared winner after the outgoing president resigned, will complete as the acting president until the tenure of Jiba ends next year.

ALGON comprises of all local government chairmen in 774 local governments in Nigeria.
