He was first arrested in 2017 after a cache of arms and ammunition were uncovered from a property allegedly belonging to him in Abuja and had been in DSS custody since Feb. 25 over allegation of possession of firearm before he was released on bail.

The former Benue governor was re-arrested by the Department of States Service (DSS) on Wednesday June the 20th.

The ex-governor of Benue is also facing corruption charges as he was arraigned on a 32-count charge of fraud at an Abuja Division of the Federal High Court in June.

He is being accused alongside his former commissioner for finance, Mr. Omadachi Oklobia for allegedly diverting about N3.1 billion belonging to the government of Benue.
