Amosun’s Ogun Guber Candidate, 3 Other Rep Members Dump APC

Abiodun Akinlade, the anointed candidate of Ibikunle Amosun, governor of Ogun state, for the 2019 governorship election in the state, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

His defection was announced on the floor of the House of Representatives on Thursday.

Akinlade’s defection follows the controversies which trailed the APC governorship primaries, where despite being the incumbent governor’s preferred candidate, he lost the Guber ticket to Dapo Abiodun.

Despite all efforts put in place by Amosun to make him secure the ticket ahead of the deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for withdrawal or replacement of candidates, Akinlade failed to get the ticket.

Meanwhile, three other members of the lower legislative chamber moved to other parties.
