Anambra APGA Primary: Bianca Ojukwu Escapes Death As Gunmen Invade Venue

Bianca Ojukwu, the widow of late Igbo leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, on Wednesday, escaped death after some gunmen invaded venue of the Anambra South senatorial primary election of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The senatorial primary election, said to be holding at the Township Stadium, Ekwulobia, in Aguata LGA, was disrupted by gunmen allegedly hired by an aggrieved senatorial aspirant.

The gunmen were said to have temporarily put the exercise on hold as delegates ran for their dear lives.

The situation subsided after the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar, and his team intervened.

Besides Mrs Ojukwu, other major contestants in the senatorial poll are Mr Nicholas Ukachukwu and Mr Ikenna Mbazuluike-Amaechi.

Business mogul, Ifeanyi Uba, had been disqualified from contesting the senatorial seat on APGA’s platform after failing to obtain a waiver to run in the poll, having recently defected to the party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
