Anambra Guber: Nwoye Wins APC Primary

Honourable Tony Nwoye has been declared winner of Sunday’s All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Anambra state.

The House of Representatives member, who won overwhelmingly got a total of 2,146 votes, against that of his closest rival Senator Andy Ubah, with 931 votes.

A total of 11 aspirants contested for the party’s governorship ticket in the election, which began on Saturday, and stretched into Sunday.

Other participants include are George Moghalu (525 votes), Bart Nwibe (414 votes), John-Bosco Onunkwo (85 votes), Obidigbo Chike (22 votes), Madu Nonso (21 votes), Nwike Patrick (20 votes), and Okonkwo Donatus (10 votes).

Over 5,000 delegates from the 21 local government areas of the state participated in the exercise.

Following the outcome, Nwoye will carry the APC flag in the governorship election scheduled to hold on November 18.

Meanwhile, the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano, was days back emerged the candidate for the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
