The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it deployed 2,233 vehicles, 83 boats, and escort personnel for the safe movement of sensitive and non-sensitive materials.
The INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka on Tuesday.
Reaffirming its readiness for the November 8 Anambra governorship election, Amupitan said out of 2,826,404 registered voters, a total of 2,792,858 have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
INEC, according to him, has also conducted refresher training for all categories of ad-hoc staff and is working with security agencies to ensure the safety of personnel and voters on election day.
The Commission also reiterated its commitment to inclusivity by providing magnifying glasses, tactile ballots, and sign language interpreters for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in polling units where needed.
“INEC is not only focused on conducting elections but also on deepening democracy by ensuring that no voter is left behind,” he stated.

He further assured stakeholders that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) has been tested and is fully functional, adding that the Commission has no intention of changing or reconfiguring the machines before the election.
“BVAS remains our primary tool for accreditation and results transmission. We have conducted mock accreditation in 12 local governments, and we are satisfied with the outcome,” he said.
