APC Cannot Dislodge PDP In S/East In 2023- Sen Ohuabunwa

Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, who represented Abia North in the 8th senate, has dismissed as “empty boast and political blasphemy”, statements credited to some All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftains that the party would claim the South-east geopolitical zone in the 2023 general election.

The former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, who stated this during a chat with journalists in Umuahia, said that the South-east remained a traditional stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and could not for any reason go for APC.

Ohuabunwa said APC had no attraction in South-east and would be “unimaginable” to think the party would sweep the zone in 2023.

The former Leader, House of Representatives, said the little progress and federal presence witnessed in the zone were all recorded under the PDP administration.

According to him, APC is the least party the region would embrace  as “the party has offered nothing but insult, vexation, neglect and malicious exclusion to the zone”.

He said all the APC leaders in the zone should be hiding their faces in shame because their party has not shown any recognition to the South-east.

” What do we say and leave the other? Is it in terms of quality political appointment or identifiable projects? How has APC shown regard for South-east to warrant claiming the zone in 2023?,” he asked.

On some PDP bigwigs defecting to APC ahead of 2023, Ohuabunwa said the affected persons “know what is pursuing them and what they are pursuing”.

He said the stock of political elite in the zone “are firmly rooted in PDP and have no plans of leaving for another party let alone APC.”

He insisted that APC had not “done anything” to attract massive support from South-east, adding that it will be too difficult for any political party to dislodge PDP from the zone.
