The pastor, who is a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly (Isoko South Constituency II), had recently declared his decision to contest the state’s APC chairmanship position.

As reported by PUNCH, the victim’s relation said it was unclear why the suspects aimed at the life of the former Delta State House of Assembly member.

“He was attacked around Forest Holiday Hotels in Oleh, where he had gone to cut his hair,’’ the newspaper quoted the relative who preferred anonymity as saying.

“As he was about to leave, a Jetta car carrying some young men blocked his vehicle and they immediately opened fire on him.

“They shot him on the stomach and the bullets went out through his back.

“He is currently in theatre, being operated upon at a hospital in Warri.

“We have been battling to save his life since yesterday (Wednesday).

“From what the doctors said, he sustained some fractures and some of his intestines were affected by the bullets.

“Several laboratory tests have been done and we are awaiting some of the results,” said the relative.
