APC Imo Guber Candidate Arrested In Abuja

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, was on Sunday arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, over an alleged breach of contract worth over $10m.

The Special Presidential Investigation Panel For Recovery of Public Property said its operatives arrested Uzodinma, who represents Imo West senatorial district at the upper legislative chambers, for a breach of contract after his company allegedly failed to execute a contract of $12m, awarded by Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), for the dredging of Calabar channel .

“This evening, at about 8.20pm, operatives of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel For Recovery of Public Property at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport arrested the APC governorship candidate in Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, after disembarking from an Air Peace P47324 flight from Lagos,” Chairman of the recovery panel, Okoi Obono-Obla, said in a statement.

“The panel is investigating economic sabotage against Senator Uzodinma arising out of the failure of his company to execute a contract of $12m for the dredging of Calabar channel awarded by the NPA,” Obono-Obla added.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Friday, published Senator Uzodimma’s name as the Imo state governorship flagbearer of the APC in the state.

Uzodinma’s name was pasted at the INEC, office along Port Harcourt road in Owerri, with Akaolisa Cyprian Okechukwu, as his running mate.
