The vote of confidence was passed on Thursday by members of APC elected National Executive Committee (Non- National Working Committee) at a meeting with the party’s national leadership.

Recall that the 36 State APC chairmen and the Federal Capital Territory, had on Wednesday passed a vote of confidence in the Buni-led committee.

The chairmen had said the vote of confidence followed some social media stories allegedly issuing ultimatum to the APC caretaker committee by a group, which called itself “Concerned All Progressives Congress Members”.

According to them: “This is an unknown group in the APC and wonder if they are actually “concerned”, as their name suggests. The APC Chairman unanimously condemns any attempt to distract efforts of the APC Caretaker Committee from the commendable work they have been doing.”

In a position paper addressed to Buni and jointly signed by Abubakar Sadiq Saadu (Chairman) and David Okumba (Secretary), the Non-NWC NEC members identified and urged the APC caretaker committee to give priority attention to areas such as APC reward system, internal democracy, membership drive, administrative structure, and general welfare.

The Non-NWC NEC member’s position paper read: “Our concerns and recommendations are borne out of our collective desire for a more viable and prosperous APC. We wish to reaffirm our confidence in your ability to contribute meaningfully in salvaging our beloved party and return it to the fast lane of electoral victories.”

Earlier at meeting held at the party’s national secretariat, Secretary of the APC Caretaker Committee, Sen. John Akpan Udoedehe, argued that Buni was already working with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration to urgently address the reward system for dedicated and loyal party members, particularly on appointment of deserving party members into several boards, agencies and parastatals of government.

Udoedehe added that since the inauguration of the APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Buni had worked assiduously to bring peace and reposition the party.

He informed NEC members that the APC caretaker committee chairman proposed the recently-inaugurated tripartite Executive/Legislative/APC consultative committee which was ensuring synergy, good governance and accelerated implementation of the Next Level agenda.

“Governor Mai Mala Buni at our last meeting with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo spoke boldly on the issue of the reward system for deserving party members.” Udoedehe said.

Osinbajo is the Chairman of the tripartite Executive/Legislative/APC consultative Committee.
