APGA Lawmaker Dies 12hrs After Party Primaries In Anambra

Twelve hours after participating in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) election primaries, a lawmaker in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Francis Mmegbuaneze has died.

Mmegbuaneze, who was said to have sneaked out of his hospital bed to participate at the primaries, died on Tuesday.

“He was hospitalised for a few days and was being treated for an undisclosed ailment but because of his patriotism and love for our party, he sneaked out of his hospital bed to attend our primary. His doctor had advised him to have some rest and even to switch off his phone, but he placed patriotism above his health,” a member of APGA told PUNCH.

Speaking on Mmegbuaneze`s death, the Special Adviser to the Anambra State Governor on Legislative Matters, Chiedozie Ezeugwa, said, “We were together yesterday (Tuesday); we shared joke and laughed together before it got to his turn to perform his civic duty and he went and voted.

“No one knew at all that something very disastrous was coming his way. So we lost him.”

Recall that incumbent Governor of the state, Willie Obiano, had emerged APGA`s gubernatorial candidate for the November 18 election at the primaries.
