Appeal Court Orders Saraki’s Re-Trial

**Senate President To Be Tried On Three-Count

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has ordered the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, to conduct a retrial of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki in three out of eighteen count amended charges of false declaration against him.

The Federal Government had on June 22, 2017 filed grounds notice of appeal against the June 14, 2017 judgment of the CCT acquitting Saraki of the 18 charges of false asset declaration and other related offences preferred against him in September 2015.

However, a ruling on Wednesday by a three-man panel of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson unanimously ordered the Senate President to return to the CCT to face trial on three of the counts.
