Armed Men Storm Kaduna School, Abduct Over 200 Pupils, Teacher

Armed men have reportedly stormed the Local Government Education Authority Primary and Secondary School (LGEA) in Kuriga village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, kidnapping over 200 pupils including a teacher.

The attack occurred on Thursday morning, and the students were between the ages of eight and 15 according to the BBC Hausa.

The medium, quoting a source in the Kaduna government revealed, “Today at around 8:30, the assembly was over and these people (robbers) came from all sides, they came and ransacked the school and took about 200 primary and secondary students. they passed with them, including one high school teacher”.

However, a staff in the Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs who pleaded not to be identified told THE WHISTLER, that the ministry was yet to confirm the circumstances of the attack as well as the number of abducted victims.

“We are trying to confirm the number and the nature of the attack. I will revert once we have detailed information.”

In January, a school principal, Idris Sufyan and his spouse were abducted, taking the number of abducted children to over 1,600 since 2014.

In April 2023, armed men abducted 10 students from the Government Day Secondary School in Awon, Kachia LGA of Kaduna state.

Also on July 5, 2021, armed men invaded the Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna, abducting 121 students.
