The vigilantes captured Wakili and two of his men and immediately handed them over to the police.
But three of those who effected his arrest were also arrested and charged with murder and arson.

While speaking with journalists in Ibadan on Thursday, Olumo said his members assisted the police to capture the suspect who they were unable to arrest. Instead of praising them, the OPC coordinator said they were arrested and hurled into police custody.

He said, “We are calling on all traditional rulers in the South-West Region to as a matter of urgency intervene in the case for the release of our three members still in prison.

“It’s not a crime for members of OPC to secure Yorubaland and we have been doing that for long.

“The reason is that OPC was established to protect Yoruba’s. We cannot fold our arms and allow Fulani to take over our land.

“We want the Oyo state government to know that OPC is complementing the effort of the the state government in making sure that kidnappers and other criminals do not take over the state.

“We are appealing to Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Adetunji Saliu, the Ooni of Ife , Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and all other traditional rulers in the south-West to intervene for the release of these three OPC members._

He said wife of one of them was sick and was on admission at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

He said the three members who risked their lives should be celebrated for returning peace to the state and the region rather than being incarcerated.
