Arsenal’s Lacazette Out For 6 Weeks With Knee Injury

Arsenal striker, Alexandre Lacazette, is set to be out for between four and six weeks after having knee surgery, the club revealed on Tuesday.

“Striker Alex Lacazette had an arthroscopy on his left knee in London on Tuesday morning,” Arsenal said in a statement.

“The minor procedure was a success and he will now undergo a period of rehabilitation.”

The Gunners hitman was expected to start in the Europa League against Ostersunds on Thursday but he is now set for a spell on the sidelines.

It means manager Arsene Wenger has only Danny Welbeck and Eddie Nketiah to rely upon up front for Thursday’s trip to Jämtkraft Arena.

Arsenal club record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is cup-tied in Europe and Olivier Giroud was sold to Chelsea last month.

The 26-year-old will also miss crucial matches against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final this month and Premier League games against Brighton, Watford and Leicester.

The France international missed a gilt-edged chance in the 90th minute to draw Arsenal level in last Saturday’s North London derby against Tottenham.

The game ended 1-0 in favour of Spurs.
