‘Atiku Defending Fraud And Criminality’ – BMO Blasts Ex-VP Over Obasanjo

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of defending “fraud and criminality”.

BMO said this after Atiku, through his media office, accused the President Muhammadu Buhari administration of trying to “rope in former President Olusegun Obasanjo into a crime as a way of silencing his voice.”

The former vice president had said Buhari’s government wants to frame Obasanjo up because it sees him “as the preeminent critical voice against the misrule that they have foisted on Nigerians.”

Atiku accused the current administration of asking the Federal Inland Revenue Service to “falsely and libellously” include Obasanjo Farm in a published list of tax evaders as part of the alleged plan to achieve their aim.

But responding, the Buhari Media Organisation challenged the former vice president to prove that his former boss is not a tax defaulter rather than whip up sentiments.

“The unspoken message from the former vice president is that it was wrong for the EFCC and FIRS to beam their searchlight on his former principal regardless of what he may have done. Aside from the subtle message, Atiku was also emphatic in accusing the president of unleashing the two agencies against the former president.

“What he is doing is tantamount to putting up a defence for fraud and criminality, and trashing the reputation of some of the agencies he once boasted to have played a prominent role in their establishment,” said the group.
